This summer I have been taking a little time off from blogging but have decided to start posting again since I only have 2 more weeks of summer.
I went to the Differentiated Instruction conference in Las Vegas this summer and had a great time. I learned a lot so I decided to share a few of the resources here.
Wordtoons- This is something I'll probably use with my students for little brain breaks throughout the day. They always love to draw so why not show them how to turn words into pictures?
GregTangMath.com- Great website with lots of math resources.
Lazy Readers- Looking for good book recommendations? Check out Danny Brassell's site with suggestions for all ages.
Something new thing I plan to do this year in my classroom is morning meeting/closing circles. We will be switching classes so I'll have 2 classes. I'm planning to do morning meeting with my first class and closing circles at the end of the day with my second class. I purchased a few books from Responsive Classroom so I feel like I have some good ideas to get started. Do any of you use morning meetings or closing circles in your classroom? I'd love to hear what you do!
Thank you for these awesome resources! I will definitely be using them in my 5th grade classroom this year. I have always heard them referred to as Morning Meetings - and they are awesome! I took a whole class dedicated to them in college. We used the responsive classroom book as our textbook.
ReplyDeleteI have not done the meetings yet because I, like you, have two separate classes. I like your idea of an opening and closing meeting. Maybe I will try that... :)
Thank you for your wonderful site. I found it while taking a class. As a teacher in her 19th year, it was a great site to recharge. I loved the twitter door. I was wondering how often you change the question for the students to answer? Thanks again, Rachel at craftswithrachel@verizon.net
